MossBastion Stronghold Strategy Guide

Watch-Parapet Charter · WCAG 2.2 Level AA

Accessibility Statement

Just as every rampart and causeway of the MossBastion is engineered for clear passage, this independent guide is built so every visitor can inspect our stronghold briefings, compare doctrines, and reach official game websites without barriers.

Verifiable Architecture

WCAG 2.2 AA Commitments Across the Bastion

Chief Siege-Architect Bryona Vane’s survey instruments demand exactness. Below are the concrete technical measures built into our HTML, CSS, and interactive controls.

Keyboard Navigation & Visible Focus

Every interactive element—from the primary navigation bar and expandable game facts drawers to official outbound links—is operable using a standard keyboard without requiring a mouse or trackpad.

  • Skip to Main Content: A dedicated skip link is the very first focusable item on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass the floating header bar immediately.
  • Bioluminescent Focus Rings: Active focus states render an unmistakable 2.5px bioluminescent emerald outline (#4CE87A) with a 3px offset so focus is never obscured.
  • Touch & Pointer Targets: Every button, disclosure toggle, and link meets or exceeds the WCAG 2.2 AA minimum target size of 24×24 CSS pixels, with primary controls sized at 34px to 50px in height.

Silent Hero Video & Reduced-Motion Controls

The High Watch-Parapet opening scene on our home page features an ambient looping background video that is engineered to never startle, distract, or trap the visitor.

  • Strictly Silent Playback: The hero video contains no audio track and plays completely muted, ensuring zero interference with screen readers.
  • Keyboard-Accessible Pause Toggle: A clearly labelled Pause/Play button sits in the bottom-right corner of the hero stage so any visitor can halt or resume the video at any time.
  • Automatic Reduced-Motion Fallback: If your operating system or browser has prefers-reduced-motion: reduce enabled, the video does not autoplay—rendering the crisp static artwork instead—and all CSS scroll transitions and ambient pulses are instantaneously disabled.

High-Contrast Basalt & Limestone Typography

All analytical briefings, facts strips, comparison tables, and legal disclosures sit upon calm, dark wet-basalt surfaces engineered to eliminate glare and maximise legibility.

  • Verified Contrast Ratios: Primary body copy (#DCE7DF on #14231B) achieves a contrast ratio above 12.4:1, and our finest print (#A9BEB0 at a strict minimum floor of 12px / 0.75rem) exceeds 7.5:1—surpassing the WCAG AA 4.5:1 threshold.
  • Text Scaling & Reflow: Layouts are constructed with fluid CSS Grid, Flexbox, and relative rem units. Pages zoom cleanly to 200% and reflow down to a 320px viewport width without horizontal scrolling or clipped words.

Screen-Reader Semantics & No-JS Resilience

Our code uses native HTML5 landmarks (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <article>, <footer>) and a strict single-<h1> heading hierarchy so assistive technologies can map every page accurately.

  • Descriptive Alternative Text: Every game diorama cover and character portrait carries rich, descriptive alt text detailing the scene, while purely decorative stone dividers, backdrops, and corner brackets are marked with alt="" and aria-hidden="true".
  • Explicit Outbound Link Labels: Every game link announces its destination clearly and includes a screen-reader note indicating that it opens an external website in a new tab.
  • Complete Without JavaScript: Every game briefing, facts drawer (built on native <details> and <summary> elements), and comparison table remains 100% readable and operable if JavaScript is disabled.

Summary of Audited Accessibility Controls

The table below records how key elements of the MossBastion design system satisfy WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria across desktop and mobile viewports.

Stronghold Component WCAG 2.2 Criterion Implementation on MossBastion
Opening Hero Video 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide (Level A) & 2.3.3 Animation from Interactions Silent looping video with a dedicated keyboard-accessible Pause/Play toggle; automatically suppressed in favour of the static poster image when prefers-reduced-motion: reduce is active.
Basalt Card & Panel Prose 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA) & 1.4.4 Resize Text Light alabaster and mist-green text over deep obsidian-basalt panels (#14231B) maintains contrast ratios between 7.5:1 and 15.2:1; all type scales smoothly in rem units with a 12px minimum floor.
Interactive Buttons & Facts Drawers 2.4.7 Focus Visible & 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) (Level AA) High-visibility 2.5px emerald focus outlines on all links, buttons, and native <summary> toggles; all touch targets exceed 24×24px.
Third-Party Game Websites 2.4.4 Link Purpose & External Scope Outbound links clearly name the destination and warn screen-reader users of new-tab navigation. Note: once you leave MossBastion for an external game publisher’s site, that publisher’s own accessibility policies apply.
